More Work Needed on Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Television Deal

Good afternoon, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sport fans.

We credit ACC Commissioner, Jim Phillips, on getting the ACC Network across the finish line.  My friend, @TalkinACCSports, has blogged about that on multiple occasions.

However, there is more work that needs to be done on the ACC television deal.  Specifically, these games on the Regional Sports Networks (Comcast-affiliated, for example), must end.  The ACC has its own television network – and that should be the floor for every single broadcast.

Let’s use today as an example:  I’m one of the fortunate viewers who has Comcast – and I can see the Virginia Tech/Boston College men’s basketball game on the local cable regional sports network channel.  Many Hokies and Eagles fans – and numerous ACC men’s basketball fans, in general, cannot see today’s game.   These fans can subscribe to ESPN Plus for viewing today’s game – but that seems like a bad choice – and a false and wrong choice.

The ACC has its on television network – and it has to be put to better use.  We credit Jim Phillips for getting the ACC Network deal across the finish line with Comcast – but more must be done.  Move all the regional sports network games to the ACC Network as the floor.

One has to concur. This mess of allowing regional sports networks to preempt games has gone on far too long. I have the Spectrum app, but I had to download the Bally’s app to watch those designated RSN games. They are a slap in the collective face of ACC fans everywhere.

Maybe should show them off air again. Looks like they quit doing that. I do get bally sports so my view is tainted a bit but I feel like several of my teams games wouldn’t have been broadcast at all if not for Bally. There are for some reason, several games in the same time slot during the week, possibly due to 16 teams, and the team I pull for wouldn’t have been broadcast at all because they are not a TV draw. I agree some things need tightening up but I wish we had more than one network or something because now that espn is the sole network for sec, we are second fiddle from now on.
