ACC Basketball Power Rankings January 18, 2022

NET Rankings are from – https://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2022/net

15. Georgia Tech (7-9, 1-5) NET Ranking 153

Last Week : 14

Congrats to Josh Pastner for guiding Georgia Tech to the bottom of the ACC, less than a year after winning the ACC. Life comes at you fast.

14. Boston College (7-8, 2-3) NET Ranking 159

Last week: 15

I was prepared to put BC at the bottom of these rankings after losing at home to Georgia Tech, but then they win after being down 20+ on the road at Clemson.

13. Syracuse (8-9, 2-4) NET Ranking 103

Last Week: 12

Remember when Syracuse beat Indiana and Florida State in back to back games? Yea they barely do either either.

12. Pittsburgh (7-10, 2-4) NET Ranking 184

Last Week: 13

I told you last week Pitt was going to spring some upsets. They got Louisville this past week, and are getting better.

11. NC State (8-9, 2-5) NET Ranking 127

Last Week: 10

If NC State can beat Virginia Tech and Virginia at home this week, they might still be able to turnaround their season.

10. Virginia Tech (9-7, 1-4) NET Ranking 41

Last Week: 11

The Hokies have great computer numbers, now they need to go on a run. There are games at NC State and Boston College this week.

9. Clemson (10-7, 2-4) NET Ranking 77

Last Week: 8

Clemson took a devastating home loss to Boston College. That will amp up the hotseat talk and Brad Brownell.

8. Louisville (10-7, 4-3) NET Ranking 111

Last Week: 4

The ship is sinking for Louisville and coach Chris Mack. They need a sweep of Boston College and Notre Dame at home.

7. Virginia (10-7, 4-3) NET Ranking 95

Last Week: 7

Virginia looks more like a NIT team than a NCAA one. It’s a critical week ahead with road games at Pittsburgh and NC State.

6. Notre Dame (9-6, 4-2) NET Ranking 74

Last Week: 6

I still like Notre Dame even though they couldn’t hold at Virginia Tech. The game at Louisville is a monster bubble game for both.

5. Florida State (10-5, 4-2) NET Ranking 70

Last Week: 9

Three wins in a row has FSU back in the NCAA mix. A split with Duke and Miami this week would help their cause.

4. Wake Forest (14-4, 4-3) NET Ranking 49

Last week: 5

Wake Forest is in pretty good NCAA shape. They can’t afford a slip up at Georgia Tech. Beating UNC at home would help too.

3. Miami (13-4, 5-1) NET Ranking 82

Last week: 2

If Miami could sweep UNC and Florida State at home, that would move those computer numbers in the right direction.

2. North Carolina (12-4, 4-1) NET Ranking 32

Last Week: 3

If North Carolina can do no worse than a split at Wake Forest and at Miami, they are still fine for the NCAAs. Losing both raises questions.

1. Duke  (14-2, 3-1) NET Ranking 11

Last Week: 1

Duke is starting to round into form after a sluggish return after their COVID pause.
