ACC Basketball Power Rankings December 14, 2021

We’ll add NET rankings later in the season.

15. Pittsburgh (3-7, 0-1) NET Ranking —

Last Week: 15

Will Pitt win 10 games this year?

14. Boston College (6-5, 1-0) NET Ranking —

Last week: 12

Yikes, BC just lost at home to 2-7 Albany.

13. Georgia Tech (5-4, 0-1) NET Ranking —

Last Week : 12

Does Georgia Tech women Nell Fortner want to coach the men’s team too?

12. Florida State (5-4, 0-1) NET Ranking —

Last Week: 10

That’s three straight losses for the Noles. Clearly there are some big issues with this year’s team.

11. Clemson (7-4, 0-1) NET Ranking —

Last Week: 13

Clemson has blown several late leads in regulation, but this time was able to finish off a decent Drake team and a feisty Miami of Ohio team.

10. Virginia Tech (7-4, 0-1) NET Ranking —

Last Week: 8

I still like Virginia Tech in the long haul, but at the moment they’ve been a disappointment.

9. Virginia (6-4, 1-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: 7

Tony Bennett is a great coach, but this Virginia team simply doesn’t have a lot of talent.

8. Syracuse (5-5, 1-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: 6

This Syracuse team is terrible defensively. How is Jim Boeheim going to fix it?

7. Miami (8-3, 1-0) NET Ranking —

Last week: 11

Miami has won 4 games in a row. In this year’s ACC that will move you up no matter who the opponents are.

6. Notre Dame (4-4, 0-1) NET Ranking —

Last Week: 14

Notre Dame stunned #10 Kentucky this past weekend. Finally an ACC team other than Duke beat a noteworthy team.

5. NC State (7-3, 0-1) NET Ranking —

Last Week: 5

How close was NC State was to stunning the college basketball world and beating Purdue?

4. Louisville (7-3, 1-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: 3

The fact Louisville has lost 2 of their last 4 and is still ranked 4th on this list says more about the ACC than Louisville.

3. Wake Forest (10-1, 1-0) NET Ranking —

Last week: 4

Wake Forest is one of the few good stories in the ACC this year. It isn’t always pretty, but they keep winning.

2. North Carolina (8-2, 1-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: 2

Besides Duke, North Carolina is the only other ACC team that looks like a certain NCAA team so far. UCLA is an intriguing game.

1. Duke  (8-1, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: 1

I’m looking at Duke’s schedule, and I can’t find a scenario where they lose 4 more games the rest of the year.
