Scott Satterfield is rapidly turning into the ACC’s next Justin Fuente. He hasn’t been the utter failure Geoff Collins at Georgia Tech has been. He didn’t oversee a rebuild and watch it collapse like David Cutcliffe. No, like Fuente he came in highly acclaimed at the Group of 5 level. It looked like a great hire. His opening year after the debacle of the Petrino final season had Louisville win 8 games and it looked like the future was bright.
Then came off-season look at other coaching jobs, then 4-7 2020 season and now another mediocre season that saw Louisville go 6-6.
To top it off Louisvile has fallen woefully behind in-state rival Kentucky losing his two games with the Wildcats 97-34.
That simply is unacceptable to Louisville fans. Saturday Louisville got stream-rolled by Kentucky 52-21 at home.
The Cardinals looks unprepared, uninterested, and physically unable to compete with the Wildcats.
Sure Kentucky has become a nice program, but in year 3 into his tenure Scott Satterfield is getting Justin Fuente vibes.
It’s not clear why it hasn’t panned out. It should have on paper, but something isn’t right with Louisville.
It’s starts at the line of scrimmage. This team simply isn’t’ physical.
The Cardinals looked exactly the same against Kentucky as they did against Ole Miss. Those two teams pushed Louisville’s defense from end to end. The defense ranked 77th coming into Saturday and it’s sure to fall after giving up over 500 yards Saturday to Kentucky.
Bryan Brown is Louisville’s DC, and you have to wonder if he survives to coach with Louisville in 2022.
There may not another ACC Coach that needs to win their bowl game as badly as Scott Satterfield does.
A 6-7 season will land Satterfield squarely on the hotseat going into next year, and he may find himself there even if he wins his bowl game.
Louisville fans expect and deserve more than what Scott Satterfield is giving them.
