ACC Coaching Hotseat rankings heading into final regular season weekend.

A few weeks ago we had a mid-season ACC Coaching HotSeat rankings.  As we head into the final weekend of the season, where are these ACC coaches standing?

This is what this looked like before the season began.

We go from coldest to hottest.

0 – Ice Cold

1 – Still cool

2 – There’s smoke

3 – Getting Warm

4 – On Fire

5 – Start working on the resume

Dabo Swinney, Clemson  = 0

Clemson is now 8-3, and just blew out #10 Wake Forest. If Clemson can beat South Carolina, Tiger fans would be disappointed with the season, but satisfied. Swinney would need multiple losing seasons in a row to even approach a hot seat.

Dave Clawson, Wake Forest = 0

Wake Forest lost to Clemson this weekend, but can still win the Atlantic and the ACC. Clawson is as safe as Swinney.

Dave Doeren, NC State = .5

Dave Doeren is assured of two straight seasons of at least 8 wins. If Doeren can knock off UNC this weekend, he’d be golden going into bowl season.

Pat Narduzzi, Pittsburgh = .5

9-2 Pittsburgh is your Coastal Division Champion. The only reason Narduzzi doesn’t have a 0 is some past struggles, but it’s been a great year for Pitt and Narduzzi so far.

Bronco Mendenhall, Virginia  = 1.5

Mendenhall isn’t anywhere near a hotseat, but it’s fair to ask what’s going on with the defense.

Jeff Hafley, Boston College = 1.5

It’s been a little bit of an uneven second season for Jeff Hafley, but BC will make a bowl. He’s fine.

Mike Norvell, Florida State  = 2

As the season has progressed, the Noles have improved. The win over Miami bought Norvell plenty of goodwill. FSU beats Florida, and the Nole fanbase will be feeling pretty good.

Mack Brown, UNC  = 2.5

You know what would make UNC fans feel better about Mack Brown? Beat NC State this weekend. 6-5 so far wasn’t how the season was supposed to go.

Scott Satterfield, Louisville = 3

Louisville has been perfectly average. That’s not going to fly at Louisville. Knocking off Kentucky this weekend would go a loooong way to winning the fanbase back.

Dino Babers, Syracuse  = 3.25

Syracuse has Pitt next week, and will miss a bowl game. It will be Babers 5th 5 win or less season in 6 years at Syracuse. Syracuse fans are getting a little itchy here.

Manny Diaz, Miami = 3.5

Despite playing better in the second half of the season, Manny Diaz did the one thing a Miami coach on hotseat couldn’t do. He lost to Florida State with a 4th quarter collapse. He’ll get to 7-5 with Duke next, but is it enough?

Geoff Collins, Georgia Tech  = 4.5

Geoff Collins can’t talk his way out of this one. His team may have quit on him after a 55-0 loss to Notre Dame. It’s ugly in Atlanta, and if he somehow survives, members of his staff won’t

David Cutcliffe, Duke – 4.5

Duke hasn’t been competitive in a game since an early October game with Georgia Tech. Duke football is a dumpster fire now. Everything Cutcliffe built is gone.

Justin Fuente  = Done

Justin Fuente had been our hottest hotseat coach for weeks. He didn’t make it, and now Geoff Collins and David Cutcliffe might want to watch where they sit.
