Good afternoon, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.
Just a quick rant. This is really terrible:
.@TalkinACCSports and I loathe the shot gun, short yardage, run by the QB or RB because everyone on both sidelines, the spectators and officials in the building, and the viewers at home know exactly what is coming. I’m just typing this up so I can imbed the tweet in a blog post. pic.twitter.com/pSxkFhs3sp

This is a common play that we have seen through Justin Fuente’s coaching career at Virginia Tech – and I’ve never been fan of it. In short yardage situations, it takes the quarterback too far back to gain the short yardage (or hand off to the running back). The Hokies have been stopped quite frequently on plays like this (usually running up the middle!). You always wonder, if you are running, why aren’t you having the QB behind center – rushing forward – and depending on your offensive line to get that push for a first down?
But this ridiculous play seems to be infecting other ACC teams at times, other national college football teams, and you might even see it occasionally in the National Football League.
End it now lol.
Thank for listening to my public service announcement.
