ACC Power Rankings after Week 8

ACC Team of the Week : Miami – for a 31-30 upset of NC State

14. Duke (3-4)

Last Week: 12

Duke is headed to Wake Forest this weekend to play the ACC’s best team. Good luck Blue Devils.

13. Virginia Tech (3-4)

Last Week: 8

If there’s a way to blow a game a late, Virginia Tech will do it. That’s why Justin Fuente is in big trouble. Georgia Tech is this week.

12. Boston College (4-3)

Last Week: 6

Boston College isn’t really that bad, but 0-3 in the ACC is still 0-3. They get rapidly improving Syracuse this week.

11. North Carolina (4-3)

Last Week: 11

North Carolina plays at Notre Dame this week. I think the Heels can cause the Irish some issues. Winning is another matter entirely.

10. Georgia Tech (3-4)

Last Week : 9

Losing to Virginia isn’t time to panic for the Georgia Tech. Lose at home to a reeling Virginia Tech team and it’s time to panic.

9. Florida State (3-4)

Last Week: 10

Florida State has won three games in a row. They have a shot to win at Clemson.

8. Miami (3-4)

Last Week: 13

Where did Miami’s win over NC State come from? Back to reality against Pitt this week.

7. Syracuse (4-4)

Last week: 12

Syracuse suddenly has themselves thinking about a bowl game, after their comeback at Virginia Tech. Boston College is a winnable home game.

6. Louisville (4-3)

Last Week: 7

Louisville is just hanging around in the middle of pack in the ACC. They could push NC State this weekend.

5. Clemson (4-3)

Last Week: 4

Clemson falls to #5 this week, and that is in the ACC not the nation. It never really felt like Clemson could beat Pitt after the Panthers went up 14-7. If they play poorly Saturday, Florida State can beat them.

4. NC State (5-2)

Last Week: 2

If you thought NC State was past laying an egg against teams they should beat, they aren’t. They had no business losing to Miami. Louisville is a tricky game even at home, and injuries are adding up.

3. Virginia  (6-2)

Last Week: 5

Virginia is red-hot offensively as QB Brennan Armstrong makes his case for ACC POY. BYU this week is an intriguing road game as Bronco Mendenhall makes his return to Provo.

2. Pitt (6-1)

Last week: 3

Pitt controlled the game against Clemson in the 2nd half. This is a good football team. The Panthers need to keep the momentum going against Miami.

1. Wake Forest (7-0)

Last Week: 1

Wake Forest dropped 70 on a decent Army team. The defense though is struggling some, and hasn’t really played well in about a month. Duke should allow the opportunity to sort some things out.
