Pittsburgh 5-1 (2-0) : A-
Kenny Pickett is getting Heisman buzz, and there was a win at Tennessee. If they had not lost to Western Michigan, they could have got an A+.
Pittsburgh can win every remaining game on their schedule, I’m just not brave enough to call it.
Predicted Finish – 10-2 (7-1)
Virginia 5-2 (3-2) : B
It feels like Virginia’s 5-2 start just kind of snuck up on us. QB Brennan Armstrong is playing at a high level, and is Kenny Pickett’s biggest challenger for ACC POY.
When your QB is better than any opposing QB you’ll face, save possibly Kenny Pickett you’ve got a great chance to win a bunch of games.
Predicted Finish – 8-4 (5-3)
Georgia Tech (3-3) (2-2) : C+
The NIU loss will sting all year, but there have been glimpses of positive moments, and it keeps the goal of a bowl game still in sight.
It’s too bad that NIU game will eventually cost Georgia Tech that bowl game. I don’t see a 3-1 ACC finish, because they aren’t beating Notre Dame or Georgia.
Predicted Finish – 5-7 (4-4)
Virginia Tech 3-3 (1-1) : C
Oh if Virginia Tech could only finish games. They were less than 10 points from being 5-0 if they could have gotten wins over West Virginia and Notre Dame.
Instead they sit 3-3 after a listless effort against Pitt.
Predicted Finish – 6-6 (4-4)
Duke 3-4 (0-3) : C
Duke has a couple of Power 5 wins over Northwestern and Kansas, but are winless in the ACC. They have been exactly as mediocre as we thought they would be.
There’s one more win in there somewhere, I think.
Predicted Finish – 4-8 (1-7)
North Carolina 4-3 (3-3) : D
North Carolina has lost to three unranked teams after they started the season in the top 15. Sam Howell’s Heisman hopes went up in flames after week 1. The first half has been a nightmare for the Heels.
There’s two more wins to make a bowl game right?
Predicted Finish – 6-6 (4-4)
Miami 2-4 (0-2) : F
That win over Appalachian State is actually a good win, and Michigan State has been better than expected. That said this is still an enormously disappointing season so far for Miami.
With D’Eriq King out, Miami isn’t making a bowl game. That may spell the end of the Manny Diaz era.
Predicted Finish – 4-8 (2-6)
