ACC Team of the Week : Virginia – for making a 2nd half comeback from down 17 to beat Louisville 34-33.
14. Miami (2-3)
Last Week: 13
From pre-season nationally ranked 14, to the ACC’s 14th ranked team. A loss to UNC could create a very ugly situation for Manny Diaz.
13. Syracuse (3-3)
Last week: 12
I think Syracuse is an improved team from last year. They had their chances against Wake Forest. If Clemson’s offense is still a trainwreck, and it might be, they can pull the upset.
12. Duke (3-3)
Last Week: 11
Duke is racing toward the bottom of this list. David Cutcliffe got conservative and that’s a big reason Georgia Tech ended up beating them. Now it’s Virginia’s high-powered offense.
11. North Carolina (3-3)
Last Week: 7
The ACC’s most disappointing team will be decided when Miami and UNC hookup this weekend. The Heels just lost at home to Florida State.
10. Florida State (2-4)
Last Week: 14
Ok, it’s time to start paying attention to FSU, who just won at UNC. They’ll enjoy the week off after back to back wins.
9. Georgia Tech (3-3)
Last Week : 10
Jeff Sims led Georgia Tech on a game winning TD in the final minutes to beat Duke. That’s huge for a developing team. The Jackets are inconsistent, but dangerous. They are on BYE this week.
8. Louisville (3-3)
Last Week: 8
Louisville had no business losing to Virginia after losing a 17 point second half lead. Now they get a week off to try and figure out what happened.
7. Virginia (4-2)
Last Week: 9
Virginia is two missed FGs from being 2-4. Don’t let anyone tell you different, you make your own luck. If they beat Duke they are 5-2.
6. Virginia Tech (3-2)
Last Week: 5
Virginia Tech had an 8 point lead with under 4 minutes against Notre Dame in what would have been a season defining type win. Of course Virginia Tech blew the game, and again under Justin Fuente the Hokies wonder how it got away. Pitt may be their season.
5. Pitt (4-1)
Last week: 6
Pitt may in fact be the ACC’s best team, but I’d like to see a win at Virginia Tech before we can seriously discuss that.
4. Boston College (4-1)
Last Week: 4
Boston College can throw themselves back into the ACC Atlantic race if they can beat NC State at home.
3. Clemson (3-2)
Last Week: 3
Clemson cannot look past a game at Syracuse. If their offense can start approaching average, they can still win the ACC.
2. NC State (4-1)
Last Week: 2
NC State got some needed rest after a BYE week. A run at the the ACC Atlantic starts with a tricky game at Boston College.
1. Wake Forest (6-0)
Last Week: 1
Wake Forest just finds ways to win, and they did it again after a tough test at Syracuse. Enjoy the BYE Week Deacs.
