Good afternoon, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.
I had a small discussion on Twitter this past Saturday about Virginia Tech’s quarterback room under Justin Fuente. Here area a few tweets on that subject:
The good teams have a decent QB for more than two years starting in a program – they do not leave after 18 months. When QBs leave your program that fast, you never have any longevity or consistency. Then you basically start over frequently. #Hokies

Think about all the QBs that transferred out of Virginia Tech over the last few years. That is what has happened to a key position at Virginia Tech. And QB is the most important position on the football field. That’s where Virginia Tech’s offense is at. #Hokies

Let me just clarify that, too – when I say more than 18 months as a starter – I’m actually talking about someone that plays 24 straight games as a starter

Shout out to my friend for providing me this graphic:
Looks like my tweets were right. Virginia Tech has never had a quarterback with 24 consecutive starts. So, basically, when you have a new quarterback play every 12-16 starts or so, it’s really like your offense is starting all over again. The lack of consistency in Virginia Tech’s offense really has a lot to do with the inconsistent quarterback play. It was eye-opening to see this. If you are always looking over your shoulder as a quarterback, why should you stay in a program?
