Pittsburgh adds yet another embarrassing loss to Geoff Collins resume.

Geoff Collins keeps  getting embarrassing losses added to his resume. His program can summed up in one tweet, I made today.

Georgia Tech play very good last week against UNC. They played decently the week before against Clemson’s worst team in close to a decade, but regressed badly against Pittsburgh.

Today was another debacle of turnovers, a slow start, bizarre play calling, and silly penalties. When you do that against a team the caliber of NIU it becomes an upset loss. When you do that against a good football team like Pittsburgh you get humiliated on your home field by 31.

QB Jeff Sims can at times look like an All-ACC player, and at other times a liability on the field.

His inconsistency mirrors the wild swings of Georgia Tech football, and the identity of a Collins coached team. Jordan Yates is just cleaner with the ball, and slow starts like Sims opening two turnovers today cost teams games. He opened poorly against NIU too. Sims has the higher ceiling. He needs to play, but having him sit to start games might not be the worst thing.  I doubt this happens, but it should.

It’s simple for Georgia Tech though the rest of the year. It’s bowl or bust. It’s always been that way. Pittsburgh was an opportunity where the Jackets were a no show.

If you lose to Duke next week, the season’s is toast. For Pittsburgh, they look like very much like an ACC Coastal contender, and Kenny Pickett might be leading your ACC POY race.
