ACC Power Rankings after Week 4

ACC Team of the Week : NC State – for beating Clemson 27-21 in 2OT

14. Florida State (0-4)

Last Week: 14

Florida State showed some pride against Louisville when it could have been a blowout. I guess that’s something. This is team just awful. Syracuse will not be easy.

13. Virginia  (2-2)

Last Week: 8

Is Virginia really the 2nd worst team in the ACC? Probably not, but where else should I put them? The defense is atrocious. They got whacked by Wake Forest at home. A game at Miami may decide their season.

12. Miami (2-2)

Last Week: 11

As expected, it was an easy win over Central Connecticut State. If D’Eriq King isn’t healthy the season might be done. Virginia is next.

11. Syracuse (3-1)

Last week: 12

Syracuse picked up a nice win over a pretty good Liberty team Friday night. They are much improved, and can’t have a letdown at reeling Florida State .

10. North Carolina (2-2)

Last Week: 2

Just when you think UNC was finding it, they go down to Georgia Tech and got trounced. Duke is a very dangerous opponent this week.

9. Duke (3-1)

Last Week: 9

Don’t sleep on Duke as they picked up a second Power 5 win beating Kansas. UNC this weekend is huge.

8. Georgia Tech (2-2)

Last Week : 13

Georgia Tech picked their biggest win of the Geoff Collins era, thumping North Carolina 45-22. Can they validate it with a win over Pittsburgh?

7. Pitt (3-1)

Last week: 7

Pitt easily beat New Hampshire, but competition goes way up against improved Georgia Tech. The winner can be a major factor in the Coastal.

6. Louisville (3-1)

Last Week: 6

Louisville followed up their UCF win, by taking care of Florida State. Wake Forest will be a big test this week.

5. Virginia Tech (3-1)

Last Week: 5

It was a flat effort against Richmond, but Virginia Tech survived. The BYE week comes at a perfect time to reset and get ready for Notre Dame.

4. Clemson (2-2)

Last Week: 1

Most of us thought, Clemson would be ranked around 4 in the nation not 4 in the ACC and falling. There isn’t a word to describe how bad they are on offense. They better be ready for Boston College.

3. NC State (3-1)

Last Week: 10

NC State had a season defining win over Clemson. The Wolfpack are much closer to the team that beat Clemson than lost to Mississippi State. They are a good football team, but should not overlook Louisiana Tech this week.

2. Boston College (4-0)

Last Week: 4

Boston College beat a dangerous Missouri team Saturday. Jeff Hafley has done a masterful job coaching around the injury to starting QB Phil Jurkovec. If they were to beat Clemson Saturday it wouldn’t be a shock.

1. Wake Forest (4-0)

Last Week: 3

Wake Forest has played the most consistent football in the ACC. The easily took care of Virginia. They host surging Louisville in an intriguing game Saturday.
