After stirring win over UCF, we say welcome back Louisville.

For the last 13 months, there’s been disappointment, frustration, and distrust from Louisville fans with Scott Satterfield.

Following a 4-7 2020, then Scott Satterfield flirting with other jobs, then the no show against Ole Miss to start this year, it was starting to get ugly.

For at least one night, all that changed as Louisville defeated a high quality UCF team 42-35 in a stirring victory that might have been the Satterfield’s best win as Cardinal head coach. The playcalling was creative enough to keep UCF off balance all evening, and QB Malik Cunningham had a heroic effort playing through cramps was instrumental in the win despite a late turnover.

The defense of course made the game winning pick 6 interception.

Frankly of the ACC’s OOC games this weekend, I barely noticed this game. This is what I said prior to the game in my ACC power Rankings for week 2.

“11. Louisville (1-1)

Last Week: 12

Scott Satterfield can earn a lot of goodwill back if Louisville can upset UCF… yea I don’t think it can happen either.”

Yep I sure didn’t think it could happen against a UCF team that is probably still going to win 9+ regular games, but Scott Satterfield sure did earn a lot goodwill back.

Now can Louisville build on the win? That’s the question of the day, but suddenly with NC State and Boston College suffering major injuries last week, the Cardinals could be positioned to make real noise in the ACC Atlantic behind Clemson.

There isn’t another team on Louisville’s schedule other than Clemson that is significantly better than UCF so the possible trajectory of the Cardinals looks a lot different.

For the first time in over a year, Scott Satterfield looked like the can’t miss coaching hire that had Louisville fans so excited.

Welcome back Louisville, we’ve missed you.
