Spartans endorse Alan Haller as Michigan State’s next AD
Jimmy Raye of Fayetteville, N.C., the South’s first Black quarterback to win a national title, and other Spartans from Michigan State’s 1965 and 1966 national championship teams have endorsed Alan Haller to be promoted as the school’s new athletic director.
Raye rode College Football Coach Duffy Daugherty’s Underground Railroad, escaping segregation. The Spartans’ 1960s teams were college football’s first fully integrated rosters.
