Recruiting is the life blood of college sports. We posted a few weeks ago the recruiting success of Florida State and the surprising Boston College Eagles. Some other ACC schools have made big recent moves like Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech.
Virginia Tech recently pulled 4 Star RB Ramon Brown out of the Virginia area – a top 30 National RB holding off the likes of Penn State and Michigan.
Georgia Tech landed their first 4 Star DT in Keith Miles Jr in a decade. He chose Georgia Tech over Texas and Wisconsin.
Those are huge gets for both schools.
Duke also has also made a recent solid turn.
Virginia Tech is the ACC’s biggest mover moving 8 spots up in the Rivals recruiting rankings, and 10 spots up in the 247 rankings.
While wins at the end of the day are what will matter for Justin Fuente, a solid recruiting season always builds nice off-season momentum, and can make a fanbase a little more forgiving.
That’s the same story with Geoff Collins at Georgia Tech as he looks to add up the win total.
How is the rest of the ACC stacking up?

We know that sometimes recruiting rankings get skewed towards larger classes. Seeing Clemson in the 30s doesn’t look good, but their class is currently in the top 10 at nearly 4 stars on average per recruit. Only FSU has as many committed 4 Star or better players per Rivals and, Clemson leads the ACC in 4 star players per 247. Clemson fans have to remember the Tigers competition is not in the ACC or in-state rival South Carolina. It’s nationally, but I do expect Clemson to still finish in the top 20 when all is said and done.
Even Miami has 3 of their 4 commits as 4 star players, but the Canes still get to get moving. I’m not sure a class of 10 or fewer set up the Canes well for the future. There’s still 5 months until signing day, so no need to panic for Miami fans.
Florida State continues their strong recruiting. They have commitments from the only 5 star players in the ACC – 2 per rivals, and 1 per 247.
