Well here we go. It’s time to start ranking the best players in the ACC for the 2021 season.
Check out the latest edition Lindy’s College Football where @TalkinACCSports (myself) with a big assist from @Hokiesmash_ASD player research helped put together these lists and the Lindy’s All-ACC team with @mattzemek.
As usual we hope you enjoy the rankings.
Previous and Upcoming Rankings
Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Offensive Linemen |
Tight Ends | Linebackers | Cornerbacks | Safeties | Special Teams
1) Bryan Bresee, Clemson
Through our rankings so far, in a rarity the Clemson hasn’t had the most players ranked so far Boston College has that honor with 5 players to Clemson’s 4. Clemson is back as we start the defense with the nation’s best defensive line. It has the potential to approach Clemson’s fantastic group of 2018.
Bryan Bresee is at the top of just about every pre-season All-American list. The former 5-Star player was a freshman All-American with 33 tackles and 6.5 Tackles for Loss. He’s just Sophomore.
2) Myles Murphy, Clemson
If Bressee doesn’t get you, the Clemson’s second consensus freshman All-American probably will. To go along with 51 tackles, Murphy had 12 Tackles for Loss. He also forced three fumbles. The 6-5 275 lb defensive end Sophomore is already being touted as potential 1st round NFL pick.
3) Amare Barno, Virginia Tech
Amare Barno may be headed toward to becoming one of the next great Virginia Tech defensive players. Even after transitioning from LB to DL, Barno still had 43 tackles and led the ACC with 16 Tackles for Loss. What is he going to do in 2021 when he has fully learned his new DE position? The junior is only beginning to touch the surface of his potential.
4) Tyler Davis, Clemson
It just isn’t fair what Clemson is bringing along the defensive line. Tyler Davis is third Clemson entry on this list, and DE Xavier Thomas just missed making it. Davis only played in 7 games last season, but still 17 tackles and 5 Tackles for Loss. He has All-American potential if he can stay healthy, and is projected as a top 3 round prospect.
5) Raymond Vohasek, North Carolina
We can feel pretty confident that North Carolina’s offense will be fine with All-American QB Sam Howell, but if UNC’s defense takes step forward the Heels could be a legit top 10 team. That will start with one the Heel’s best defenders Raymond Vohasek. He was an honorable mention All-ACC player in 2020, with 29 tackles and 7 Tackles for Loss. You can find Vohaek on a number early pre-season All-ACC lists.
