The Rise and Fall of Eight ACC Baseball Teams’ NCAA hopes.

My how much can change in just a handful week in College Baseball in the ACC. From teams totally off the NCAA radar at the beginning of the month to now right in the middle of the conversation. Then to teams that were locks to make the NCAAs to needing miracles in the ACC Tournament or at least deep runs to make the field. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like it.

@MattThompson87 has the incredible falls and rises of eight ACC teams  in one tweet.

1 Georgia Tech 21-15 0.583 28-21 0.571 42
2 Miami (FL) 20-15 0.571 ½ 32-17 0.653 19
3 Virginia 18-18 0.500 3 27-22 0.551 44
3 North Carolina 18-18 0.500 3 26-24 0.520 45
5 Duke 16-17 0.485 28-20 0.583 29
5 Pittsburgh 16-17 0.485 22-19 0.537 49
7 Virginia Tech 16-20 0.444 5 27-23 0.540 56

Clemson has made such a mess of their season, they need to win the ACC Tournament to make the NCAAs. It’s their worst season since 1957. Virginia Tech is in the same boat with a stunning collapse and needs to win the ACC Tournament.

Louisville and Pittsburgh  probably need to win their pool or they are done. They were locks at the beginning of the month.

Virginia, North Carolina, Duke weren’t really in the NCAA picture in early May and now probably reach NCAAs by winning their pod.

NC State, Miami, Georgia Tech, and Florida State can still make a run as a regional host with a ACC title and along with Notre Dame are NCAA locks.
