We Celebrate The 40th Anniversary of @MotleyCrue

Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.

We step out of the ACC tonight to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Motley Crue, one of the best heavy metal bands in the history of the world.  They are known as the world’s most notorious rock band.  They’ve had many platinum and multi-platinum albums, 22 top 40 mainstream rock hits, 20 top overall songs on the pop charts, 3 Grammy Nominations, 4 New York Times Best Sellers (books), and landed a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  Their iTunes and streaming went through the roof after they released The Dirt, a Netflix movie, about the story of Motley Crue (I encourage you to read the book that set the stage of the movie).  For more information on Motley Crue, go here.

On April 24, 1981, Motley Crue had their first live show at The Starwood in West Hollywood, CA.

Motley Crue band members include the bassist, Nikki Sixx (@NikkiSixx); the drummer, Tommy Lee (@MrTommyLand); the lead singer and frontman, Vince Neil (@TheVinceNeil), and the guitarist, Mick Mars (@mrmickmars).  They all complemented each other’s talents.

We can’t talk about a lot about the after party shenanigans that Motley Crue would participate in – but needless to say, if there was YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook back in the day, they would be in trouble for a lot of stuff 😉  VH1 has a really good, brief documentary on Motley Crue here (it touches on some of the fun they had):

Having said all this, I’m going to drop through my top ten Motley Crue songs (in no particular order) that I want to hear in Lane Stadium this fall. Here we go:

1.) Dr. Feelgood.

2.) Wild Side.

3.) Take Me The Top.

4.) Kickstart My Heart.

5.) Live Wire.

6.) Looks That Kill.

7.) Too Young To Fall In Love.

8.) Smokin in the Boys Room.

9.) Same Old Situation.

10.) Girls Girls Girl.

Please note that there are no pop metal ballads on this list 😉

And there is your dose of pop culture many years later – that you can only find at All Sports Discussion 😉
