When NCAA rules are applied poorly and abused.

Today was another embarrassing day for NCAA. In other words just another day for the much maligned organization.  Tweets from two of the highest profile media members said it all.

So the NCAA erased wins and an Atlantic 10 title for the UMASS women’s tennis team over a phone jack worth a few hundred dollars. This is a must read article at the absurdity of it all. Congratulations to the NCAA for laying down the law to the UMASS women’s tennis team. College Athletics is safer because of it. That’s sarcasm by the way.

Now who didn’t see this coming? The transfer rule being mis-used, and abused by unscrupulous coaches. The transfer market is going to make High School recruiting look tame by comparison. The rule always should have been transfer without penalty if the head coach leaves, otherwise you have to sit out the year like we’ve done in the past. This rule is off to a poor start and is setting the stage for some very ugly recruiting tactics.

Thankfully by hammering the likes of the UMASS women’s tennis team, tampering with the transfer portal won’t happen.
