Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.
Earlier this month, the ACC announced the launch of it search for the conference’s next commissioner.\
We are very high, FWIW, for Michael Kelly to be hired for this position. Kelly, who turned 50 in late July, is the absolute perfect candidate for this job.
Today, the ACC announced members of the Commissioner Search Advisor Committee – and it’s an impressive list.

As you can see from the tweet above, there is a very good mix of university presidents, athletic directors, coaches, and students on the committee. Specifically, the list includes university presidents from some of the traditional football schools, such as Timothy Sands and John Thrasher from Virginia Tech and Florida State, respectively. Also included are some of the ACC’s terrific female athletic directors in Carla Williams and Heather Lyke from the University of Virginia and the University of Pittsburgh, respectively. Additionally, you can can see that men’s basketball will be well represented by Kevin White (Duke Athletic Director) and Kevin Guskiewicz (North Carolina Chancellor). Finally, the women’s administrators from Clemson, Boston College, and Louisville are part of this committee, as well.
I have to admit I was surprised that one of the co-chairs of this committee is the Reverend John Jenkins, the Notre Dame university president. Notre Dame is not a full conference member.
Update on August 27, 2020 at 8:38 PM!! From the great David Teel!!
The committee co-chairs were announced two weeks ago. Father Jenkins and Nathan Hatch were ND coworkers before Hatch became Wake Forest president.

Overall, the committee is outstanding.
