#StayHealthy and practice social distancing
Well we are still hoping there will be a college football season. There are plenty of posts regarding the probability of that, but if there is we’re going to have top 50 ACC players ranked for the season. We’ll largely take our top 5 at each position rankings for members of the top 50.
Players 1-5 | Players 6-10 | Players 11-15 | Players 16-20 | Players 21-25 | Players 26-30 | Players 31-35 | Players 36-40 | Players 41-45 | Players 46-50
Damond Phillyaw-Johnson, Duke – #2 Special Teams Players in the ACC
Andre Szmyt, Syracuse – #3 Special Teams Player in the ACC
David Curry, Georgia Tech – #5 Linebacker in the ACC
Georgia Tech’s David was one of the most active linebackers in the ACC in 2019. He had 97 tackles, with 2 sacks, a fumble recovery, and interception, and 6 tackles for loss.
Noah Taylor, Virginia
Along with with Charles Snowden, who ranked #40 in our ACC’s top 50 players, Noah Taylor and Snowden form one of the best Linebacker tandems in the ACC. Taylor is finished 2019 with 13.5 tackles for loss, and is a stellar pass rusher. His is an athletic linebacker, that is only starting to touch the surface of his potential. You can expect the junior to one day be playing on Sundays.
Hassan Hall, Louisville – #4 Special Teams Players in the ACC
Amari Rodgers, Clemson
Wide receiver – Amari Rodgers returns for his senior season at Clemson with over 100 career receptions. He is only 1 of 5 Clemson players since 2000 to score a TD running, receiving and punt return. The versatile player had 30 receptions for 426 yards last season, while overcoming an ACL injury. With the loss of WR Justyn Ross, Rodgers will be looked at to be one of Trevor Lawrence’s leading receivers. We think Rodgers will be up to the task.
Ahmarean Brown, Georgia Tech
If you are a wide receiver at Georgia Tech, and you share any records with Calvin Johnson then you’ve done something. That’s exactly what Ahmarean Brown did as a freshman for the Yellow Jackets. Within a offense that was largely dysfunctional the first half of 2019 due to the transition from the triple option, Brown tied a freshman record set by Johnson with 7 touchdown receptions last season. 33% of his receptions went for TDs. He showed great speed, and averaged nearly 19 yards reception.
Tayvion Robinson, Virginia Tech – #5 Special Teams Player in the ACC
James Mitchell, Virginia Tech – #5 Tight End in the ACC
Virginia Tech’s James Mitchell enters 2020 a TE on the rise. Last year, he had 21 catches for 361 yards and a very nice 17.2 yards per reception. The 6’4″ junior TE came in as a highly touted 4 star recruit, and he’s lived up to the hype.
