Florida State has the nation’s best basketball recruiting class going.

I don’t know how 2020 can get any weirder sports wise, but Florida State typically known for it’s football program currently has the nation’s #1 basketball recruiting class. This after UNC spent a good portion of the year with a top 5 in football recruiting, and still has top 10 class going. We’ve talked about the job Mack Brown has been doing with North Carolina, but let’s check on Brown’s fellow ageless recruiting wonder Leonard Hamilton at FSU.

Both major recruiting services Rivals and 247 now have the Nole’s basketball recruiting class ranked as the nation’s top class. What Hamilton has done the last 4 years at FSU is pretty remarkable. He’s averaging 26 wins a year with an Elite 8, a Sweet 16 and an ACC Title. This in a conference with still multiple Hall of Fame coaches, and the rising Tony Bennett among others.

This class is exactly how Hamilton has been building his teams for years – long lean and athletic. The shortest player is 6’4, with 2 seven footers.

When and if we starting playing basketball again, Hamilton is likely to have another top 15 caliber team.

Whatever Mack Brown and Leonard Hamilton are drinking from the recruiting fountain of youth, they are certainly on to something in 2020.
