Five Things I don’t like about the ACC Schedule 2.0

#StayHealthy and practice social distancing

Well here we go again. The ACC released their modified scheduled recently, and should there be a season what do we dislike about the schedule.

You know how this works, I just told you what I  liked about the schedule.

UCF vs Georgia Tech

A team coming off a 3-9 season just scheduled the toughest non-conference game in the ACC. There is absolutely no benefit for Georgia Tech to play this game. This was an odd decision at best by Georgia Tech to keep this game.

Travelling Pittsburgh

After October 3, Pittsburgh plays 2 games at home with 5 games on the road. That includes road games at Miami and Florida State. If I am a Pittsburgh fan, player, or coach, I am not happy at the amount of travel I have to do in October and November.

No Tobacco Road vs Clemson

With Clemson’s proximity to Tobacco Road how did Clemson end up with only 1 game against the North Carolina schools? Clemson faces Wake Forest, but doesn’t get to play Duke, NC State, or UNC. Clemson vs UNC would have been a matchup of 2 of the best QBs in college football and rematch of the ACC game of the year from 2019.

No Miami vs Notre Dame

Notre Dame can’t play every in the ACC, but I sure would have like to see Miami vs Notre Dame. This rivalry has so much history (Catholics vs Convicts). It would have not reached 1980s and 1990s level of hype, but remember the 2017 game when both were in the top 10 had a ton of national attention.

Two Games on a Friday

Boston College plays at Louisville and Notre Dame at UNC on Friday November 27. This is the Friday after Thanksgiving. If both games are not against each other, then I’ll like this. After shopping and turkey, this makes for a good ACC day of football. If both games are on at the same time, then I don’t understand what the point was. Especially with Notre Dame vs UNC possibly being one of the top ACC games of the year.
