The plot continues to thicken with Notre Dame and the ACC for the 2020 football season. If there is a college football season, the esteemed @ByDavidTeel discusses the scenario of Notre Dame being part of the ACC football schedule.
ACC presidents are likely to decide Wednesday how and if the league can plan for fall sports during a global pandemic, and among the primary options are a 10-plus-1 and 8-plus-1 football schedule, both of which could include Notre Dame and make the Fighting Irish eligible for the ACC title game.
Whoah! Notre Dame with a chance to play in the ACC Title game?
I just don’t know what I think about that, especially if Notre Dame goes right back to their independent status. I’m fine if the ACC supports the Irish and Notre Dame can fill out their schedule.
If Notre Dame would knock out say Clemson from the playoffs then what? I’d also have an issue if Notre Dame has the honor of an ACC Title.
I’m all for the ACC being a good partner to Notre Dame. Notre Dame has provided many benefits to the ACC, as Teel talks about in his article.
Help Notre Dame with their schedule, but stop at having them play for an ACC title unless they plan to join the ACC fully in the next few years.
