Good morning, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.
This is a culture blog post. From time to time, you’re going to see some “hair metal” or “glam metal” on my Twitter timeline – it was a culture of it’s own during 1981 – 1992. In some ACC stadiums, you’re going to hear some hair metal as stadium anthems. If you’re not aware of hair metal, it’s a genre of music that has a lot of pop-style guitar riffs, band members dressed up in glitzy outfits, and very outward personalities. I have a thread on my Twitter profile where I’m playing one hair metal song everyday of the year for 365 days. You can see that thread here:

I’m convinced it’s still some of the best music in America 😉
Hair metal is also unfortunately known for many performers leading with massive debauchery in their lives – using whatever drugs and alcohol where available at the time.
Here is a good news story on that front: BlabberMouth.net is reporting that Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue is celebrating 19 years of sobriety.
If you know the story about Nikki Sixx, he partied so much one evening, he was technically medically dead – and 19 years of sobriety is something we can all celebrate.
Congratulations to Nikki Sixx.
