#StayHealthy and practice social distancing
The weekend’s May 10 and May 17 could end up being watershed weekends for live sports this year in the United States.
After nearly two months without live sports, UFC, Charity Golf, Nascar and let’s not forget Cornhole having been shown live the last two weekends.
Other parts of the world like Korea with their pro baseball league, and Germany with their Bundesliga soccer are starting up too.
This provides true hope for the future, and also some timely lessons. Not only is hope provided for sports later in year, but also…
Some of the live sports this weekend is like a national PSA. Practice some common sense like appropriate social distancing and/or masks and we can start gradually start easing back into some things.

Things are not normal, and these live sporting events are proving it. There are empty arenas, and stadiums. You see social distancing and mask wearing. Announcers constantly refer to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and believe me we are very much in the middle of it. Lives are still being lost, and people are still getting sick, but the national rates are slowing.
I’d never thought I’d be so glad to see live sports on televisions even ones I rarely watch.
It make me feel like things are getting better in a way just going back to work couldn’t
This doesn’t guarantee sports in the fall, but it certainly continues to raise my hopes. Back in early April I wrote what must happen for college football to be played in the fall. We are moving in that direction.
Fans in attendance are still another matter, but seeing live sports eased back in mid-May tells me the possibility of sports later in the year is very much on the table.
