ACC Basketball Power Rankings with NCAA Analysis 2/27/2020

For Current RPI Rankings and Quadrant Wins http://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2020/rpi-live

This where I see each ACC teams’ NCAA Chances. On Sundays we post Bracket Projections from several sports sites.

1. Florida State (24-4, 14-3) Projected NCAA Seed 1

I”d make the Noles a #1 seed. They can win the national championship.

2. Louisville (23-6, 14-4) Projected NCAA Seed 3

There’s no shame losing at FSU, but the Cards have still lost 3 of their last 5.

3. Duke (23-5, 13-4) Projected NCAA Seed 4

Losing to Wake Forest raises major questions about Duke’s ceiling. A game at Virginia suddenly becomes huge for ACCT seeding.

4. Virginia (20-7, 12-5) Projected NCAA Seed 7

Virginia is playing some really good basketball at the right time. They still have a mathematical chance to win regular season title.

5. Notre Dame (18-10, 9-8) Projected NCAA Seed 11

The Irish have played themselves on to the NCAA bubble. If they sweep Wake Forest and FSU this week, they’ll be in pretty solid position.

NCAA Cut Line

6. Syracuse (16-12, 9-8)

I thought Syracuse was dead, but they aren’t after winning 2 games this past week. They have to win out for any NCAA shot.

7. Georgia Tech (14-14, 8-9)

Georgia Tech hasn’t lost a home game in a month. While the NCAAs are realistically out, the NIT could be in play.

8. Clemson (14-13, 8-9)

Clemson hosts Florida State this weekend, and the Tigers are really good at home.

9. North Carolina State (17-11, 8-9)

NC State beats Duke, them promptly loses their next two games. They are 0-4 against Georgia Tech and UNC.

10. Miami (14-13, 6-11)

Miami is just playing for ACCT seeding, and trying to avoid the Tuesday games.

11. Boston College (13-16, 7-11)

It’s another season that went nowhere under Jim Christian.

12. Wake Forest (12-15, 5-12)

Where did that victory over Duke come from? That moves Wake Forest up.

13. Pittsburgh (15-14, 6-12)

Pitt has just run out of gas having lost 5 games in a row.

14. Virginia Tech (15-13, 6-11)

Remember when Virginia Tech was picked to finish last in the ACC? They are almost there after a good start.

15. North Carolina (11-17, 4-13)

UNC is still the ACC’s worst team, but they made sure NC State probably doesn’t make the NCAAs either.
