ACC Basketball Power Rankings with NCAA Analysis 1/16/2019

For Current RPI Rankings and Quadrant Wins http://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2020/rpi-live

1. Florida State (15-2, 5-1) Projected NCAA Seed 2

Florida State is capable of winning a national championship.

2. Duke (15-2, 5-1) Projected NCAA Seed 2

Duke’s loss to red-hot Clemson drops them of our 1 line, but if they beat Louisville Saturday put them back.

3. Louisville (14-3, 5-1) Projected NCAA Seed 3

Louisville at Duke this Saturday is one of the ACC’s game of the year.

4. Virginia Tech (13-4, 4-2) Projected NCAA Seed 9

Let me throw this at you… I don’t think Virginia Tech is even on the bubble right now. A sweep this week of Syracuse and UNC and will put them above the 8/9 line.

5. North Carolina State (12-5, 3-3) Projected NCAA Seed 11

NC State with a healthy CJ Bryce is a NCAA caliber team. He’s back now.

NCAA Cut Line

6. Clemson (9-7, 3-3)

The Tigers have won 3 games in a row, and looked great against Duke. If they win at NC State and beat Wake Forest this week, could Clemson really think about the NCAA tournament?

7. Virginia (11-5, 3-3)

Could the reigning national champs really miss the NCAAs? Virginia better get moving.

8. Syracuse (10-7, 3-3)

Syracuse won two games this week, but can the Cuse sustain it? They play at Virginia Tech and at Notre Dame this week.

9. Notre Dame (11-6, 2-4)

If there is a team that I think is better than it’s record it is Notre Dame. Syracuse at home is big.

10. Pittsburgh (11-6, 2-4)

It’s an absolute must that Pittsburgh sweeps North Carolina and BC at home this week.

11. Miami (10-6, 2-4)

A road game at Duke this week is not the way to start working up the standings.

12. Georgia Tech (8-9, 3-4)

Georgia Tech hasn’t been able to win back to back games even with a full roster. Josh Pastner keeps doing Josh Pastner things and that’s never good.

13. Boston College (9-8, 3-3)

Boston College is sinking fast, and so are Jim Christian’s chances of being back next year.

14. North Carolina (8-8, 1-4)

With games at Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech this week, UNC could be staring at an 1-6 ACC mark.

15. Wake Forest (8-8, 1-5)

Have you seen the number of empty seats at Wake Forest? Danny Manning just didn’t work out.
