ACC Basketball Power Rankings with NCAA Analysis 1/9/2019

For Current RPI Rankings and Quadrant Wins http://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2020/rpi-live

1. Duke (14-1, 4-0) Projected NCAA Seed 1

Duke is on a trajectory for a #1 seed.

2. Florida State (14-2, 4-1) Projected NCAA Seed 2

Florida State might be the best team in the country that nobody is talking about.

3. Louisville (12-3, 3-1) Projected NCAA Seed 4

I like Louisville, but Jordan Nwora needs help. Notre Dame and Pittsburgh are a couple of tricky road games this week.

4. Virginia (11-3, 3-1) Projected NCAA Seed 7

What happened against Boston College? Virginia is safely in the field, but they can’t get sloppy.

5. Virginia Tech (11-4, 2-2) Projected NCAA Seed 10

Virginia Tech may be off and on the bubble for the next two months. They have critical games with NC State and Wake Forest this week.

NCAA Cut Line

6. Pittsburgh (11-4, 2-2)

Pittsburgh won at UNC. Who isn’t beating the Heels in Chapel Hill these days? Pittsburgh can make the NCAAs, but not this week.

7. Boston College (9-6, 3-1)

BC’s only ACC loss is to Duke, and the win over Virginia looks solid. A sweep of Georgia Tech and Syracuse this week could sneak them into the field… Seriously.

8. North Carolina State (11-4, 2-2)

If the Wolfpack decide they ever want to play defense, they are as talented as any ACC team outside of the top 3.

9. Miami (9-5, 1-3)

Playing Louisville and Duke in the same week would be tough on anyone, and Miami lost both. I still like what Miami is capable of.

10. Notre Dame (10-5, 1-3)

If Notre Dame could get a sweep of Louisville and beat Georgia Tech on the road, it could turn their whole season around.

11. Wake Forest (8-6, 1-3)

Wake Forest got a nice win at Pitt, and had they knocked off FSU they would have flown up the rankings.

12. Georgia Tech (7-8, 2-3)

Georgia Tech hasn’t been awful since they got healthy.

13. North Carolina (8-7, 1-3)

I seriously considered putting UNC last after home losses to Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh. If they lose to Clemson at home, I’ll put them there next week.

14. Clemson (7-7, 1-3)

Clemson knocked off NC State and that gets them out of the bottom spot of the ACC power rankings. Can they really win at UNC this week?

15. Syracuse (8-7, 1-3)

Syracuse lost both of their homes games to Notre Dame and Virginia this past week. Hey someone has to be last.
