ACC Basketball Power Rankings with NCAA Analysis 12/26/2019

1. Louisville (11-1, 2-0) Projected NCAA Seed 1

A huge game at Kentucky looms on the December 28.

2. Duke (10-1, 1-0) Projected NCAA Seed 2

Duke won has their last 4 games by double digits. To be honest I think they are flying a bit under the radar.

3. Florida State (10-2, 1-1) Projected NCAA Seed 4

Florida State at 10-2 at this point has positioned itself to battle for a top 4 NCAA seed the rest of the season.

4. Virginia (9-2, 2-0) Projected NCAA Seed 5

Virginia is a NCAA caliber team, but the loss at home to South Carolina gives you idea of this team’s ceiling.

5. Pittsburgh (9-3, 1-1) Projected NCAA Seed 8

Pittsburgh should get to 11-3 before a game at UNC on January 8.

6. Virginia Tech (9-3, 1-1) Projected NCAA Seed 10

If you had Virginia Tech 9-3 at this point in the season, raise your hand. Ok you’re a liar. Mike Young is an early candidate for ACC COY.

NCAA Cut Line

7. North Carolina State (9-3, 1-1)

NC State showed me a lot playing pretty well in a close loss at Auburn. The Wolfpack need quality wins, but they can make the NCAA tournament.

8. Boston College (8-5, 2-0)

Break out BC, they have won 4 games in a row!

9. Miami (8-3, 0-1)

I feel like Miami is a sleeper team in the ACC. That was a decent win over Temple this past week.

10. North Carolina (7-5, 1-1)

The Heels broke a 4 game losing streak by beating UCLA this weekend. They really really really need Cole Anthony to get healthy.

11. Wake Forest (7-5, 0-2)

It is a modest two game winning streak for Wake Forest. They beat NC A&T 76-64 this week.

12. Notre Dame (8-4, 0-2)

Oh if Notre Dame had beat Indiana in a 2 point loss, I would have shot them up the rankings.

13. Syracuse (7-5, 1-1)

Wins over Oakland and North Florida are better than losses, so there’s that.

14. Georgia Tech (6-6, 1-1)

A fully equipped fully healthy Georgia Tech team won 2 of 3 games in the Diamond Head Classic for a 3rd place finish. That will move them ahead of Clemson.

15. Clemson (6-6, 0-2)

Clemson is a dreadful basketball team. This season might finish Brad Brownell at Clemson if he can’t turn things around. The recent loss to Yale was the latest in an ugly start.
