1. Louisville (10-1, 2-0)
Louisville lost to Texas Tech, but who in the ACC doesn’t have at least one head scratching loss? This is still the conferences’s most complete team.
2. Virginia (8-1, 2-0)
Virginia can go into scoring funks, but as long as they play defense they’ll be very good.
3. Duke (9-1, 1-0)
I really like the ceiling of this Duke team. There’s that Stephen F Austin loss, but also wins over Kansas, Michigan State, and Georgetown.
4. Florida State (8-2, 1-1)
A typical Leonard Hamilton team that’s long, deep, athletic and plays defense. They already have wins over Tennessee, Florida, and Purdue.
5. North Carolina (6-3, 1-1)
Cole Anthony has largely been a one man show for the Heels. There is a really good looking win over Oregon, but also plenty of questions about this team.
6. Pittsburgh (7-3, 1-1)
Jeff Capel has himself a sneaky good basketball team with wins already over Florida State and a decent Rutgers team. How did they lose to Nicholls State?
7. Virginia Tech (7-3, 1-1)
Mike Young’s first year at Virginia Tech has started much better than anyone expected. The win against Michigan State was stunning.
8. North Carolina State (7-2, 1-1)
NC State has won 7 of their last 8 games since their season opening loss to Georgia Tech when they were shorthanded.
9. Miami (6-3, 0-1)
Miami’s three losses are to Louisville, UConn and Florida. The win at Illinois was solid.
10. Boston College (6-5, 2-0)
Boston College has already lost 5 times, but are 2-0 in the ACC and are currently on a modest 2 game winning streak including a win at Notre Dame.
11. Notre Dame (8-3, 0-2)
Notre Dame has gotten fat on cupcakes. The home loss to BC is concern. The Irish might be the ACC’s biggest unknown.
12. Wake Forest (6-5, 0-2)
Wake Forest looked like it was headed for the bottom of this list, but then they beat a really good Xavier team Saturday. Was it a fluke or is Wake on to something?
13. Syracuse (5-5, 1-1)
This Syracuse team really struggles scoring, and doesn’t yet having anything close to resembling a quality win.
14. Clemson (5-4, 0-2)
Clemson is an OT win over TCU from being 0-5 against power 5 teams.
15. Georgia Tech (4-4, 1-1)
This was supposed to be Josh Pastner’s best team. Instead injuries, back luck, bad shooting, and bad coaching have it currently the worst team in the ACC.
