2nd Half Predictions for each ACC Coastal Team

We haven’t quite reach the the mid-point of the college football season for most ACC teams. North Carolina and Pitt are there, but the rest have 1 more game to go.

After seeing 5 or 6 games of each ACC Coastal, though I’m ready to already start predicting the 2nd half of the season for the ACC Coastal teams.

Virginia

Current (4-1, 2-0)

Predicted (10-2, 7-1)

It’s not out of the the question the Hoos run the table. The schedule sets up very well for them, and they should be favored in every remaining game on their schedule. I just don’t have the guts to call it. Notre Dame exposed the holes in their O-Line, but no one else on their regular season schedule can come close to matching the Irish’s defensive front.

North Carolina

Current (3-3, 2-1)

Predicted (7-5, 5-3)

North Carolina is going to have an advantage at QB in all but 1 of their last 6 games. That’s Bryce Perkins and Virginia. Sam Howell is on his way to being a star. The Heels are a load to deal with offensively, and the defensively they’ve progressed since early in the year. While I like UNC, I see a loss against Virginia and maybe on the road against Virginia Tech, Pitt or NC State.

Pittsburgh

Current (4-2, 1-1)

Predicted (8-4, 5-3)

Pittsburgh is flying under the radar it seems, but they’ve performed pretty well in the 1st half of the year. There’s the win against UCF, and a near win against Penn State. The other loss was to Virginia in a competitive game. I can see a scenario where they win out, but Pitt is just too unpredictable for that. If they win at Syracuse on the 18th, they’ll win 9 games.

Duke

Current (3-2, 1-1)

Predicted (6-6, 5-3)

Duke is in a bit of trouble after a shaky home loss to Pittsburgh. The schedule might be the toughest finish in the ACC Coastal. Where are the wins coming from @UVA, @UNC, Notre Dame, Wake Forest and Miami? Do you see more than 2 wins there? You give them against Georgia Tech, then buckle up Duke fans.

Virginia Tech

Current (3-2, 1-2)

Predicted (6-6, 3-5)

The Hokies may have salvaged their season with a win at Miami this past weekend, but after Rhode Island it is a brutal finish – UNC, @Notre Dame, Wake Forest, @Georgia Tech, Pitt and @UVA. Virginia Tech will only be solid favorites against Georgia Tech.

Miami

Current (2-3, 0-2)

Predicted (5-7, 3-5)

Miami came within an eyelash of beating Florida in week 0. Two more single digit losses have occurred. The Canes had the talent to win at least 8 games in this year’s Coastal, but they’ve played sloppy and undisciplined time and time again. You give them wins over Georgia Tech and FIU, but do you have confidence they can score 2 more wins to make a bowl game? A home game against Virginia could make or break their season.

Georgia Tech

Current (1-4, 0-2)

Predicted (2-10, 1-7)

There will be no saving the Yellow Jackets season. Plain and simple – Georgia Tech is awful. The offense is a trainwreck, and the defense lacks depth and is undersized. That said they showed signs of life against UNC. The offense actually looked functional at times. If Geoff Collins can hold the team together, I feel there’s going to be a game where they put things together and steal one.
