Best and Worst case record for Florida State football in 2019

Best / Worse Case Record for :

Louisville | Virginia | Miami | Duke | Georgia Tech | Boston College | Pittsburgh | Virginia Tech | NC State | Clemson | Syracuse | North Carolina | Wake Forest

Florida State
As recently as 2016, Florida State made up the Big 4 in college football along with Clemson, Alabama and Ohio State. Clemson and Alabama pulled away. Ohio State stayed in the ball park, but the Noles fell off the map. Willie Taggart’s first season was a 5-7 disaster, where FSU missed their first bowl game in 36 years. Taggart inherited a mess from Jimbo Fisher, but he better show some improved results right away in 2020. No team has a wider spread on how their 2019 season could go.

Will Go 9-3 (6-2) if:
New OC Kendal Briles can quickly overhaul the offense. There’s talent there – RB Cam Akers and WR Tamorrion Terry are a couple of the better ACC players at their position. The early part of the schedule isn’t easy, but it gives FSU a chance at a 4-1 or 5-0 start. If the Noles split their games with Boise State and at Virginia, then ULM, Louisville, and NC State at home are winnable. I especially like the Noles chance to make big time noise if they beat Boise State in their opening game.

While the Noles don’t have Clemson level talent, they are still in the top 4 or 5 in the ACC in talent. If they play up to it, they should still win 7 maybe 8 games. The offensive line absolutely must be better than recent versions. It can’t be worse can it?

Will Go 4-8 (2-6) if:
The offensive line is the trainwreck it’s been the last two years. Boise State, at Virginia, at Clemson, Syracuse, Miami and at Florida are a set of games the Noles could go 0-6 in. The Noles would have to go 4-2 in the other six just to have a 4-8 season. Frankly only ULM, Louisville, and Alabama State at home look like locks to win. They days are over of FSU just showing up and sleep walking to wins over the majority of their schedule.

FSU was bad on both sides of the ball last year. Similiar numbers will result in a similar 2020.

I’m not saying FSU will go 11-1, but I don’t see why 9-3 is best case. Only Clemson looks unwinnable (I’m not buying the Gators or Canes just yet)

It’s just to big a leap for me to see how they improve 6 games from last year. The offensive line was a disaster.

I just can’t see them taking more than 2 from Syracuse\Miami\UF and then not slipping up somewhere else.
