NC State should be over the 7.5 wins set by Vegas

It’s that time of year again when we all can feel that itch that the college football season is right around the corner. We are all seeing the preseason polls and the award watch lists being released. Which comes to my favorite part, future bets. I have been seeing NC State’s over/under win total being set by Westgate Superbook (I don’t go to those weird offshore betting sites, I prefer the lines set by Las Vegas) at 7.5.

When you look at NC State’s schedule, it isn’t full of landmines. However, going on past performances there aren’t that many gimmie wins either. Lest I remind NC State fans of recent losses in games they should have won (Wake Forest, South Carolina, ECU and the like).

But 7.5 wins seems like the low end of what is possible. When you break down the schedule if NC State wins less then 7 games how will the fan base handle it? Will we as a fanbase scream for Dave Doeren’s head? After back-to-back 9 win seasons I find that unlikely. It would not be optimal and Doeren would have a lot of questions to answer. The questions would surround those recruiting classes from 2015 and 2016.

With ECU, Georgia Tech, Louisville, West Virginia, and UNC with new coaches and schemes, NC State should be able to win most of those games. As we’ve learned in the past there isn’t a game that NC State is guaranteed to win, and in year 7 of Dave Doeren he should be winning those games.
