A Random Call to @Comcast on the Status of the #ACC Network

Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.

My buddy, Jeffrey (@TalkinACCSports) posted about a phone call he made to Charter Cable on the status of their adoption and implementation of the ACC Network.  You can see his post here.

Jeff gave me an idea – there’s one huge behemoth you don’t see on this list here (see #21 below) – and that is Comcast, the largest cable company in America.

That peaked my curiosity up – so I figure why not call?  Here’s what happened:

  • Call #1:  I asked the representative about the status of the ACC Network.  I had then had to mention the network name five times – and spelling it out at least four.  The presentative still didn’t understand what I was saying – so I hung up.
  • Call #2:  The representative hung up – but called me back as I was already on call #3.
  • Call #3:  I asked the I asked the representative about the status of the ACC Network – and if Comcast was offering the network in August 2019.  The representative told me that Comcast already offered the ACC network as a streaming option – I told her that this is the ACC Network Extra offered through ESPN3.com.  She agreed with my conclusion – and mentioned that she would follow up with her management (I told her I would exit Comcast and pay the the 11 month early termination fee if I did not get the ACC Network – and specifically, the linear channel).  She followed up and stated that Comcast and the ACC are still in negotiations.

I had a very real conversation with @ComcastCares – see the DM below:

So there you have it – there were my attempts to get information out of Comcast.

@TalkinACCSports also made a call to Comcast speaking as a “new” customer  for the state of Georgia – pricing out cable options with the ACC Network as a priority. According to him, the finally said it would be on one of their tiers.

Take it for what’s it worth… Nothing is official, until it’s publicly released as a done deal.
