How the 2019 ACC Tournament will affect each ACC Teams’ NCAA Seeding.

The ACC Tournament is going play a major role in where the ACC Teams end up in the NCAA Tournament. Let’s take a look where an ACC team could end up based on how many games they win.

We pull the RPI numbers from CBS Sportsline.

2019 ACC Tournament Bracket 

Virginia (28-2) (16-2) ACC Tournament Seed 1

RPI – 3

NET RANKING – 2

Win 0 ACC Tournament Games: Projected NCAA Seed – 1

Virginia doesn’t have to win a game to be a NCAA #1 seed

Win 1 ACC Tournament Game : Projected NCAA Seed – 1 

I repeat, Virginia doesn’t have to win a game to be a NCAA #1 seed

Wins 2 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 1 

I repeat again, Virginia doesn’t have to win a game to be a NCAA #1 seed

Win 3 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 1

For the last time, Virginia doesn’t have to win a game to be a NCAA #1 seed (Wait a minute, this sounds exactly like last year)

North Carolina (26-5) (16-2) – ACC Tournament Seed 2

RPI – 5

NET RANKING – 6

Win 0 ACC Tournament Games: Projected NCAA Seed – 2

UNC has no chance at #1 seed with a loss in the quarters.

Win 1 ACC Tournament Game : Projected NCAA Seed – 2 

I think they’ll need more than 1 ACCT win for the 1 seed, but the Heels will still be under consideration.

Wins 2 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 1 

Get to the ACCT finals and it’s a lock.

Win 3 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 1

If Heels win the ACCT, could the Heels be the NCAA tournament’s #1 seed? They’ve beat Gonzaga too.

Duke (26-5) (14-4) ACC Tournament Seed 3

RPI – 2

NET RANKING – 3

Win 0 ACC Tournament Games: Projected NCAA Seed – 2 

Duke needs a bit of a ACCT run to move from the 2 line. They have not managed their injuries well.

Win 1 ACC Tournament Game : Projected NCAA Seed – 2 

One win won’t do it it either.

Wins 2 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 1

I think Duke getting to the ACCT Championship Game could earn them a #1 seed, but it will depend on games around the country.

Win 3 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 1

Trying keeping Duke off the 1 line, if they win the ACC Tournament.

Florida State (25-6) (13-5) – ACC Tournament Seed 4

RPI – 15

NET RANKING – 19

Win 0 ACC Tournament Games: Projected NCAA Seed – 4

FSU won’t fall further than a 4 seed.

Win 1 ACC Tournament Game : Projected NCAA Seed – 3 

A win and they’ll challenge for a top 3 seed.

Wins 2 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 3 

They probably just beat Virginia to get the ACCT finals, they’ll get a look as a 2 seed, but I think it will be a strong 3 seed.

Win 3 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 2

ACC Tournament champs and that’s a 28-6 record. It will get them to the 2 line.

Virginia Tech (23-7) (12-6) ACC Tournament Seed 5

RPI – 26

NET RANKING – 12

Win 0 ACC Tournament Games: Projected NCAA Seed – 6

Buzz Williams did a better job with his injuries than Coach K. They can’t fall lower than a 6 seed.

Win 1 ACC Tournament Game : Projected NCAA Seed – 5

The Hokies can start moving into protected seed territory with a couple of wins.

Virginia Tech wins the ACCT and they’ll be a 2 seed… Believe it.

Syracuse (19-12) (10-8) ACC Tournament Seed 6

RPI – 38

Win 0 ACC Tournament Games: Projected NCAA Seed – 10

The Cuse are safe, but will be one of the last teams in with an Ofer in the ACCT.

Win 1 ACC Tournament Game : Projected NCAA Seed – 8

The dreaded 8/9 game.

Wins 2 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 7

A couple of ACCT wins and the Cuse are off that 8/9 line.

Win 3 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 6

Now the Cuse are really moving up.

Win 4 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 5

From a 10 to a 5 seed if Syracuse runs the table.

Louisville (19-12) (10-8) – ACC Tournament Seed 7

RPI – 31

NET RANKING – 22

Win 0 ACC Tournament Games: Projected NCAA Seed – 9

Louisville has some OOC wins to help their profile.

Win 1 ACC Tournament Game : Projected NCAA Seed – 8

They need at least 2 wins to get out of the 8/9 game.

Wins 2 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 7

As a 7, Louisville could give some 2 seed a lot of problems.

Win 3 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 6

Louisville has came close or beat several very good teams this. year They could be an ACCT darkhorse.

Win 4 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 5

Just give Chris Mack ACC COY if they pull this off.

NC State (21-10) (9-9) ACC Tournament Seed 8

RPI – 116

NET RANKING – 32

Win 0 ACC Tournament Games: Projected NCAA Seed – First Four In

RPI in the 100s and Net Ranking in the 30s… NC State is an interesting case. I think they are in without any ACCT wins, but it will be close. They better win 1.

Like NC State, I think Clemson is already in, but the Tigers will be sweating selection Sunday.

Pack your bags Tiger fans.

Clemson’s backcourt gives them a chance to give Virginia a scare.

Tiger fans will invade Charlotte if this happens.

Georgia Tech (14-17) (6-12) ACC Tournament Seed 10

Georgia Tech has a chance to win a couple of games here. Jackets playing decently to end the year.

Boston College (14-16) (5-13) ACC Tournament Seed 11

Jim Christian’s days are numbered.

Christian just got an extension.

Miami (13-17) (5-13) ACC Tournament Seed 12

RPI – 127

NET RANKING – 93

Win 0-4 ACC Tournament Games: Projected NCAA Seed – OUT

It’s been a disappointing season for Miami, but they did beat Clemson and nearly knocked off UNC. They are dangerous.

Win 5 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 12

What would Miami fans do if this happened?

Wake Forest (11-19) (4-14) ACC Tournament Seed 13

RPI – 162

NET RANKING – 184

Win 0-4 ACC Tournament Games: Projected NCAA Seed – OUT

Wake Forest played single digit games against FSU and Duke in the last week. I would not be surprised if they won a game or two.

Win 5 ACC Tournament Games : Projected NCAA Seed – 14

Danny Manning certainly won’t have to worry about his job if Wake Forest won 5 ACC Tournament games.

Pittsburgh (13-18) (3-15) ACC Tournament Seed 14

RPI – 189

Pitt beat FSU and Louisville during the season – Keep that in mind.
