February 6 was the second signing day of the 2018-2019 football recruiting cycle. Here’s who we thought were the ACC winners and losers were for the December signing period.
Now we look at the ACC winners and losers for the February signing period.
Here are the ACC recruiting rankings from the 247 and Rivals.
Winners
North Carolina
Mack Brown still has that recruiting touch. North Carolina finished with a top 35 class, and signed 4 more players after December including 6’8 280 DT Wisdom Asaboro. UNC might be the biggest ACC winner in fact following a coaching change and coming off a 2-9 season. Great job by Mack Brown and staff.
Georgia Tech
Geoff Collins got his signature big time recruit in 4 star RB Jamious Griffin today. Griffin was the type player Georgia Tech rarely landed in previous years. DE Mike Lockart was also a nice pickup.
Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech got the ACC recruiting flip of the day by pulling 4 star OL Doug Nester from Ohio State. Nester was one of the most sought after OL in the country.
Miami
Overall Miami did not have the class many expect there, but they did get some good news today. Longtime Alabama commit 4 star DB Christian Williams flipped to Miami. After Nester, it was the ACC’s biggest recruiting flip.
Louisville
Nobody will call Louisville class a great one. It’s lowly ranked and the Cardinals only signed 14 players, but back in December it looked like a class that could be a complete disaster. Scott Satterfield managed to cobble together a reasonable finish include 4 star DE Ja’Darian Boykin.
Losers
Clemson
OK, this isn’t a knock on Clemson’s class. It is the ACC’s best, and will keep the Tigers at or near the top of college football. Today was still a disappointment though. 5 star RB Jerrion Ealy was thought to be a Clemson lean, and ended up at Ole Miss. Ole Miss???
Florida State
Florida State signed the ACC’s 2nd best class, but today was not good day for the Seminoles. In desperate need of a quarterback the Noles lost 4 star QB Lance LeGendre to Maryland. This was a stunning miss by FSU at a position of need.
