A few years ago, Clemson was chasing Florida State in the ACC. Then it was Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State and Florida State as college football’s elite programs. Now it’s Clemson and their only true peer Alabama.
The Tigers faced a Notre Dame team that swore it was different from it’s predecessors. This was the Irish team could challenge for the national title. Even with the suspension of probable NFL first rounder DL Dexter Lawrence, Clemson dominated Notre Dame in a complete mis-match.
Notre Dame had some early chances, but failed to cash in. Once Clemson went up 9-3 the route was on, and ended in a 30-3 laugher. Freshman phenom QB Trevor Lawrence looked like seasoned NFL veteran once he got a bead on the Irish’s blitz packages. The maligned Clemson secondary played one of their better games of the season. Notre Dame QB Ian Brooke got rattled, and a good Irish O-line got manhandled.
This is what Clemson does now. They take good teams and when they are on can just pulverize them. The Irish looked shell shocked at the speed, power, and athleticism of Clemson. They weren’t the first one team to taking a Clemson beating, and they won’t be the last.
There aren’t anymore adjectives to describe how great the Clemson program has become. All we know is that it’s not coming to an end anytime soon. Look how young Clemson is offensively.
Here’s the bad news for the rest of America: Trevor Lawrence, freshman. Justyn Ross, freshman. Tee Higgins, sophomore. Amari Rodgers, sophomore. Travis Etienne, sophomore. You’ll see all these studs in Clemson uniforms again next year.

It’s on to the national title game where Clemson will face Alabama – I know it’s not over, but sorry Oklahoma you are showing plenty of fight. You just got too far behind to pull this off.
The best programs in college football will meet again. Clemson is and always was this season the only team that can beat Alabama. They will be underdogs, and it’s going take a near perfect effort, but Clemson is good enough to beat the Tide. We’ll see if they can… If they can’t certainly no one else could.
