If you haven’t heard by now, North Carolina is bringing back Mack Brown as their head football coach. Brown turned the Tar Heels into a top 10 team in the late 90s and he won a national championship at Texas. He has quite the resume, but he’s been out of coaching for several years let’s just say some on twitter are skeptical, but others are pumped.
The biggest risk in hiring Mack Brown is that he’s been working for ESPN so you know he hasn’t been following ACC football

I can’t wait to find out what kind of Cyber Monday deal UNC got for Mack Brown.

It boggles my mind about how much Mack Brown being back at UNC triggers so many State and Duke fans and local Raleigh pundits alike. Maybe UNC finally did something right.

PTI spent time on the first part of the show talking up UNC football for hiring Mack Brown – no offense to any of the guys they passed on, but that’s a big reason why he was hired. You can’t put a price tag on that positive buzz and you’re not getting it from hiring just anyone.

I’ll be interested to see how Mack Brown does a second time around. Usually coaches are never as effective during their second stints (see John Robinson, Joe Gibbs, Art Shell).
