The game this weekend between Clemson and Louisville looks like one of the biggest mis-matches in recent ACC history. The current spread is Clemson -39, but is that the biggest spread between two ACC teams the last 20 years?
I asked this question on twitter, and got some eye opening responses. Thanks for those that answered!
Florida State was a 47-point favorite at home vs. Wake Forest on Nov. 11, 2000. Florida State won 35-6.

My immediate thought was maybe 2013 FSU/WF but it looks like that was 35

Here are some huge spreads I found at https://www.oddsshark.com/stats/dbresults/football/ncaaf
October 4, 2014 : Florida State -37 Wake Forest
November 16, 2013 : Florida State -37 Syracuse
October 8, 2005 : Miami -37 Duke
September 21, 2002 : Florida State -45 Duke
October 14, 2000 : Florida State -47.5 Duke
November 11, 2000 : Florida State -47 Wake Forest
September 30, 2000 : Clemson -36.5 Duke
October 2, 1999 : Florida State -40 Duke
I couldn’t find anything pre 1995, so it’s possible some of those great early 90s Florida State teams would have some huge ACC point spreads.
Well Louisville it looks you are only the 5th biggest ACC spread since the mid 90s. I guess that’s something.
