NC State football is on the verge of something historic

Well, it’s been a week since the game in Death Valley. NC State played, the worst game I’ve seen them play in 2 years. I would argue that this is the worst performance in the Dave Doeren era at NC State. It is worse then that initial 3-9 Doeren team. Finley played the worst game I’ve seen him play while here in Raleigh. It seemed as though as noted on the Red and White Podcast, that the moment was too big for them. I agree with this assessment. The playcalling seemed unimaginative and Doeren was chasing momentum during the first half. When you play a team like Clemson in Death Valley, you need to play at your best. Clemson played very well, and showed you what they do to teams who don’t bring their A game.

With all that said, NC State is still on the verge of a historic season. When you look at what NC State has left on their schedule, they should win every game left. NC State has gotten through the toughest stretch of their schedule. Boston College looks as if they have gotten back on track, Virginia looks like they could be the Coastal Champion. NC State has beaten both of those teams. When you look at what NC State has left, it’s not daunting at all.

Syracuse has questions at QB after last weeks game against North Carolina. Florida State looks like they have gotten things together, but their O-Line is still shaky at best and I don’t like their QB situation. Florida State is also a game that is being played in Raleigh. Wake Forest, they are a decent team, but the wheels might be coming off, today will show a lot of where Wake’s season is going. Louisville, has fired their coach and might not win another game for the rest of the season. North Carolina, is the same old situation. NC State is clearly and definitively the better football team. Fedora and the Tar Heels keep finding different ways to lose games and their QB situation isn’t the greatest. Finally ECU on December 1st as a make up game for the WVU game that was lost to Hurricane Florence. ECU has been a dumpster fire since firing Ruffin McNeil and have been struggling ever since.

When you look at what NC State has left on the schedule you can’t tell me that 11-1 is not out of the realm of possibility. NC State in the past have lost games they have no business losing. ECU two seasons ago, last year there was the South Carolina and Wake Forest games. Now, I am not saying that this won’t happen again this season. I’m saying, I think this team is different. I just think that this team will win 10-11 games this season. NC State has had only 1 double digit win season in the history of the program. I believe that this season will be the second, there is nothing on the schedule that prevents this from happening. They have that opportunity before them, and the only thing that can beat this team now, is itself…..
