If there is any concern about Clemson football, it’s that could peaking too soon… I guess. Such is the concern of fanbase that is currently on 183-27 scoring run since halftime of the Syracuse game. Averaged out over the course of a whole game Clemson is beating their opponents roughly 52-7 since this dominant run started.
Today Clemson absolutely vaporized Florida State 59-10 in Tallahassee. It was humiliating wakeup call for Florida State. They had shown some signs of life in recent weeks, but the game only illustrated how large the gap has grown between the two programs. Willie Taggart has a lot of work of him. He’s got a total rebuild on his hands.
Dabo Swinney’s biggest task will be keeping Clemson playing at this level.
Trevor Lawrence proved why he won the starting QB a few weeks ago. Initially he looked a little uncomfortable with the Florida State pressure, but he settled in quickly and shredded a decent FSU defense for 314 yards passing and 4 TDs. That was in just over 2 quarters of football. Here’s a frightening thought for future opponents of Clemson. Lawrence is going to get better too. Each week his play seems to improve from the week before.
On the other side of ball, we all wondered what Clemson’s NFL caliber D-Line would do to the struggling FSU O-line. They predictably destroyed it.
If there’s another team in country, not named Alabama, playing better I haven’t seen it. Clemson is hitting on all cylinders. There is still a tricky looking game at Boston College. Louisville will be a glorified scrimmage, but BC is good enough to push Clemson if the Tigers have an off game. Don’t count on it though. Swinney currently has the Tigers running like a well oiled machine.
Remember when Clemson had some early scares against Texas A&M and Syracuse? This is not the same team.
