Boston College miserably fails test against Purdue to be relevant.

Boston College was so close. They came into the season with the 2nd most pre-season All-ACC players. They had just gotten ranked in the top 25 this past week. In some circles, Boston College was being called the 2nd best team in the ACC. The Eagles were in position to start the year 5-0 with a huge game looming at NC State in a couple of weeks.

All they had to do was win at 0-3 Purdue, and defeat Temple at home. In all came crashing down in a miserable, embarrassing effort at Purdue.

Boston College QB Anthony Brown looked tentative and confused at QB. The running game never got going and it likely ended ended any remote chance of AJ Dillon had of being in the Heisman chase this season. The defense especially in the secondary simply looked slow. Purdue’s passing game repeatedly torched Boston College through the air.

Boston College football doesn’t get many opportunities like this – not recently anyways. Here was Boston College’s chance to move up in the rankings, and get some real national attention going forward. Most people were ready to believe in Eagles, but a few folks saw the signs that this team was overrated.

Well James was right. BC got carved up today, and now with a difficult backend to the schedule the Eagles may look at this game as the one that exposed them.
