ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro comments on ACC Network.

Quietly the ACC Network continues to come together. Recently ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro made some comments on the ACC Network that kind of went under the radar, but hint at the progress of the launch. This is a tweet from media reporter @sarafischer

From the website CableFax.com on the Pitaro’s ESPN vision…

He also provided an update on the brand’s upcoming ACC Network, on schedule to be launched in 2019. The net will carry 40 games, with multiple distribution deals already in place and more in the works.

Two sources with effectively the same comments, with the additional note from CableFax that multiple distribution deals were already in place. This is only more confirmation that ACC Network distribution deals are getting done. The blog site ACC Prescription speculated as much earlier this week.

What is new for me at least – is the 40 games total ( which I assume are football games ) means ESPN is prepping to show a lot of ACC football next year.

The financial commitment by ACC schools for the network is written in detail in this article by Sports Business Daily.

It appears it’s all systems go for the ACC Network. The one bit of information I’m really curious about is the carriage and distribution rate for these deals. That’s something ESPN and the ACC have been tight lipped about.
