2018 Masters Preview: The Top 10 Contenders.

It’s Master’s week. If you’ve read the blog in the past you know we’ll check in on golf especially during the 4 majors, and this is one of those times. Let’s preview the top 10 contenders for the first major of the year.

1.  Dustin Johnson

The last two times Dustin Johnson played at a Augusta he finished in the top 6. He’s the worlds #1 player, and can overpower any course he steps on. If he putts decently he can win.

2.  Rory Mcilory

We were starting to forget about Rory Mcilory a little bit weren’t we? A win recently at the Arnold Palmer Invitational changed that. The immensely talent 4 time major has 4 straight top 10s at the Masters. He’s a definite threat to win.

3. Bubba Watson

Bubba Watson is a two-time Masters champion, and he’s won twice this year. He knows Augusta, and he’s long ball hitter. Like Dustin Johnson – he just need to putt decently and he will be in the mix.

4. Phil Mickelson

Phil Mickelson is playing some of the best golf of career at the moment. 15 times he’s finished in the top 10 at Augusta with 3 wins. His win earlier this year in Mexico proved he has more than enough in the tank to win another major.

5. Justin Thomas

Coming off his PGA Championship last year, nobody has played as consistently in the world as Thomas. The World’s #2 player hasn’t had finish outside the top 25 since September 2017. His great all-around game gives him a solid chance at his 2nd major.

6. Jordan Spieth

When you putt the way Jordan Spieth can then you always have a shot in Augusta. He hasn’t played as well this year as some of the others on this list, but he’s a 3-Time major winner and a former Masters Champion.

7. Tiger Woods

It’s been a really long time since Tiger Woods entered a major as a real contender, but he appears to be injury free for the first time in years. He’s had multiple top 10 results this season. His resume speaks for itself, and if Phil Mickelson can win age 47 Tiger Woods certainly can.

8. Jon Rahm

Jon Rahm is a good putter. He’s long and not that accurate off the tee. Rahm is also ranked in the top 5 in the world. At Augusta accuracy off the tee is not that critical, but Rahm has the length and the putting to make a serious run at his first major.

9.Justin Rose

Here is a player that seems destined to eventually win a Master. Justin Rose in the last three years at Augusta has went T2, T10, 2. The top 10 player could win his 2nd major this week.

10. Rickie Fowler

Rickie Fowler is going to win a major at some point. He seems like he’s been around forever, but he’s still only 29. He played solid at the Houston Open, and he’s had top 15s three of the last four years at Augusta. He has the game to win a major, he just needs to breakthrough like Sergio Garcia did last year.
