A last look at which ACC teams will make the NCAAs and their projected seeding.

We pull the RPI numbers from CBS Sportsline.

(1) Virginia (31-2) (17-1) – Projected Seed 1

They will be the NCAA tournament’s number 1 overall seed. They can win it all.

(4) North Carolina (25-10) (11-7) – Projected Seed 2

I keep going back and forth whether I think the Tar Heels can win the national title. I finally felt that when you have a rock solid backcourt like the Heels do – then you do have a shot at it.

(5) Duke (26-7) (13-5) – Projected Seed 2

Duke is talented enough to be national champion, but there’s a gaping hole at the PG position.

(10) Clemson (23-9) (11-7) – Projected Seed 4

Clemson will need some breaks to reach the Final 4, but they are certainly capable of getting to the 2nd weekend. They will be a tough out.

(28) Miami (22-9) (11-7) – Projected Seed 6

I can see Miami reach the Sweet 16 or lose in the opening round by 15. They are erratic, but very dangerous.

(61) Virginia Tech (21-11) (10-8) – Projected Seed 8

Virginia Tech is the only ACC team that beat Virginia. They did it at Virginia too. Any questions?

(62) NC State (21-11) (11-7) – Projected Seed 9

Just ask Duke, UNC, Arizona or Clemson how capable this NC State team is.

(56) Florida State (20-11) (9-9) – Projected Seed 10

The Noles limped home, but have wins over Clemson and UNC.

(39) Louisville (20-13) (9-9) – Projected Seed 11

Is the difference between being a NCAA team or not .9 seconds? I don’t think so. Louisville sneaks in.

(67) Notre Dame (20-14) (8-10) – OUT

Notre Dame is going to be a tough call with the Bonzi Colson injury as a factor. Their record is their record… One of the last 4 left out?

(43) Syracuse (20-13) (8-10) – OUT

How do you separate Louisville, Notre Dame, and Syracuse? Good question, but only 1 out of the 3 is making the tournament. Syracuse and Notre Dame have a couple of ugly looking losses too.
