Georgia Tech may have salvaged season with upset of Virginia Tech.

Georgia Tech’s Taquon Marshall had just thrown a pick 6. Virginia Tech took a 22-21 lead, and for the 4th time this year, the Yellow Jackets had lost a double digit 2nd half lead. I’ll be the first admit, the Georgia Tech fan in me said here we go again. I think most Georgia Tech …

FSU Opponent Preview: Clemson

What is usually hyped as the ACC match-up to decide the Conference is now, instead, just your usual fare in Conference play. Sort-of. Clemson is looking for a third straight appearance in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game. Only one team stands in their way: a talented (but depleted) 3-5 Florida State squad. I don’t …

Ranking the Power 5 Football Conferences after Week 10 with Playoff Analysis

While the playoff committee doesn’t rank the power 5 conference, there is no way conference strength – which means OOC results doesn’t figure in to a committee members thought process. Let me point out on my philosophy on these rankings – your most recent  OOC results count a lot, and you’ll see me reference …

A Few Random Thoughts on Virginia Tech’s Performance vs. Miami

Greetings, Hokies.  If you are similar to me, you’re probably looking back on Virginia Tech’s performance vs. Miami thinking what could the Hokies have done better.  Here’s a few random thoughts: Miami isn’t a bad football team.  While the Hurricanes are not an elite team, they are much better under Mark Richt than they …

Miami quiets critics with big win over Virginia Tech.

If you are a Miami fan that had to feel good. You know it did… Miami 28 Virginia Tech 10, and it wasn’t that close to be honest. Deservedly Miami’s resume had been questioned even with a 7-0 record. They had last second wins over mediocre Florida State and Georgia Tech teams. They struggled late …

Clemson shows resiliency in win over NC State. Now eyes ACC Title Game and Playoffs.

Down goes Penn State, down goes Ohio State, and down goes Oklahoma State. All with difficult games, and now all have been eliminated from the playoff chase. Clemson also had a difficult game today. They had to head to Raleigh, NC and face an NC State team more than capable of beating the Tigers. For …

Virginia’s season is already a success after win against Georgia Tech.

While one team’s season (Georgia Tech) went down the drain today, Virginia’s became a complete success after they became bowl eligible by beating the Yellow Jackets. Virginia is going bowling. Their record is now 6-3. With games at Louisville, at Miami, and Virginia Tech it was no guarantee the Hoos would get that 6th win. …

FSU Opponent Preview: Syracuse

It amazes me that I even have to type this: FSU is 2-5 in November. Yikes. It’s been very difficult to bring myself to write opponent previews at this point, as I have little faith in my alma mater. What’s happening at FSU transcends just being a bad team: FSU has a culture problem, and …

Top 15 Matchup Between Virginia Tech and Miami marks rare ACC occurrence.

When #13 Virginia Tech faces off with #10 Miami Saturday it will mark a rare ACC occurrence. For ACC fans the hope is that this doesn’t become so rare. For only the 3rd time since 2007, an ACC matchup of top 15 will not have at least one of Florida State or Clemson playing in …
