I’ll be the first to admit, I thought the Wolfpack were in big trouble after game 1. In a mistake prone opening loss to an average South Carolina team, the Wolfpack again appeared to be headed toward a season of unfulfilled potential.
Since that game the Wolfpack have reeled off 5 straight wins. That includes a win at Florida State and a win Thursday over Louisville. In both wins over ranked opponents, the Wolfpack were the more physical team.
Their defensive line which is one country’s better ones features potential 1st round NFL pick Bradley Chubb, and they controlled the line of scrimmage Thursday. The offense has a good QB in Ryan Finley and a top-notch versatile play maker with Jaylen Samuels.
This team has become Clemson’s biggest threat in the ACC Atlantic.
I’ve been tough on Dave Doeren in the past, but time to give credit where it’s due. He pulled his team together after that ugly South Carolina loss, and they are playing with confidence.
Looking at the schedule the Wolfpack could be set up for a special season. They’ll be favored in the rest of their games this season with the exception of a game at Notre Dame and Clemson.
I would wouldn’t want to face the Wolfpack right now. They are a far better team at the beginning of October than they were at the beginning September. If you’re looking for darkhorse in the ACC this year – here it is.
By the way the Wolfpack crowd showed out well on TV creating a great atmosphere for the game.
