@DavidTeelatDP looks at John Swofford’s 20 years as ACC Commissioner

Another great article from the esteemed @DavidTeelatDP of the Daily Press. John Swofford has been ACC Commissioner for 20 years, and @DavidTeelatDP  looks back.

From that article…

The fourth commissioner in ACC history, and the longest-tenured, Swofford has shepherded this bunch to a football revival, cable network and grant of media rights. And at age 68, he shows no signs of downshifting.

In hasn’t always been an easy road for Swofford. A few years ago I wrote an article about some of his best and worst decisions, as commissioner and what his legacy would be.

As David Teel says, Swofford is the longest serving ACC commissioner.  We’re not sure how much longer he will be in the commissioner seat – and @HokieSmash_ASD wrote some extensive blog posts about who the next commissioner should be.  In particular, the candidates were ACC Athletic Directors  and external sports management officials (we are high on Michael Kelly).

It’s not how you start, it is how you finish and Swofford certainly has done some of his best work in recent years.
