Good morning, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) fans.
Kyle Tucker (you can follow Kyle on Twitter at @KyleTucker_AJC ), former Virginian-Pilot Virginia Tech Hokies football beat writer – and now the SEC football columnist and University of Kentucky basketball beat writer for SEC Country, had an interesting series of tweets on Virginia Tech football (and specifically, the Hokies offense) during the Pittsburgh football game:
There was a snarky one that got a few chuckles from Hokie fans here:
Nice of Virginia Tech to honor Bryan Stinespring with its red-zone offense tonight.

.@BryanDFischer One of the most ridiculous passages I’ve ever written. (Next game, threw repeatedly in red zone.) pic.twitter.com/y9ISu3E2EH

But there were also a series of really good ones that took a holistic look at how far the offense has come under Justin Fuente:
Insane stat: VT just won its first road game EVER when giving up 35 points. Bud Foster’s defense finally has a margin for error. https://t.co/yg2UJvkgGD

*Correction: when giving up MORE than 35 points.* I mean, you often lose those. But to never have won one? That’s fairly stunning. https://t.co/gKxtdDzZAl

Man, Virginia Tech really found itself a star QB in Jerod Evans. He's the real deal.

And that really is the difference under Fuente – the Hokies offense has the best play calling I’ve seen in years – and our players are in positions where they can make plays (and not everything is on Bud’s defense all the time).
